30 Years of Proven Research-Partnering Excellence
While reviewing the fifty plus I/UCRC consortiums across the U.S. that participate in this NSF research model, it quickly becomes clear how fortunate I am to be developing industry partnership opportunity for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the newest member of the multi-university Safety, Security and Rescue Research Center (SSR-RC ). Not only is UNC Charlotte’s research talents and expertise for computation-driven robotic and sensor systems augmented by data analysis at the top of their university peers, but the NSF has a brilliant model for bringing together industry and academia to effect “positive change in the performance capacity of the U.S. industrial enterprise.”
The NSF I/UCRC model has been proven time and time again over the thirty years of existence to deliver exceptional research results that pave the way for significant Return on Investment through accelerating IP commercialization for industry members.
For organizations that dedicate their R&D spends to improve the safety, capability and well being of humans in working environments, public places, harmful or risky work tasks, or in patient care, the UNC Charlotte SSR-RC site may be a worthy research partner for you to consider.
We are working to attract industry members that dedicate a mission to deliver products and services that improve the safety, capability and well-being of humans as workers, patients and customers.
One of the greatest value multipliers for membership to the UNC Charlotte SSR-RC is being part of a multi-university research consortium (University of Minnesota, University of Pennsylvania and University of Denver), with access to all project research and IP, as well as peer to peer networking opportunities with other industry members.
What I like best about the I/UCRC model is that very large (and prestigious) organizations with robust R&D budgets often become members to enlist help for non-core or unfunded research projects. And, for small organizations, I/UCRC’s like the SSR-RC are the great equalizer, as NSF funding puts membership within reach, at an affordable rate.
NSF I/UCRC: A brilliant model for bringing together industry and academia to effect “positive change in the performance capacity of the U.S. industrial enterprise.”
